Sydney Zoo is seeking to develop part of the Western Sydney Parklands, known as the Bungarribee Precinct.
The Sydney Zoo proposal includes approximately 30 exhibits and a variety of animal species such as highly popular exotic and Australian animals. The proposal also includes:
- gift shops, restaurants, cafes, kiosks and amenities
- a show arena, picnic areas, wetlands, waterways and gardens
- service areas including administration, curatorial and food preparation, veterinarian space and service yards
- a large car park.
If approved, the Zoo would become a catalyst for change in the area. It would encourage further revitalisation of the area, facilitate economic growth in Blacktown and its surroundings, increase employment opportunities and highlight Western Sydney as a key tourist destination.
Sydney Zoo is committed to delivering best practice design on all aspects of the project and have brought together a leading team of experts including, urban designers, architects and other technical specialists to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved for this project.
