Sydney Zoo is proposing to develop part of the Western Sydney Parklands, known as Bungarribee Park. The site is approximately 16.5 hectares and is located adjacent to the Great Western Highway, Bungarribee.
The site is located approximately 33 kilometres west of the Sydney’s CBD, and approximately 15 kilometres east of Penrith. It is in close proximity to the Great Western Highway, M4 Western Motorway and Westlink M7, providing excellent access to both the state and regional road network and surrounding parkland areas.
In 2014, Sydney Zoo won a public tender to secure the right to lease the site from the Western Sydney Parklands Trust to develop the proposed zoo.
